Our work

Since 2008, Principal Consultant Sarah Janali has worked in the local government sector at senior levels managing different areas including youth services, reconciliation, community grants, volunteers, social inclusion and libraries.

Over 20 years, Sarah has gained extensive experience in developing, delivering and managing community strategies, services, programmes and projects.

Expertise in connecting communities to organisations

Through nurturing strong relationships and developing targeted strategies to engage with harder to reach groups, Sarah Janali Consulting helps organisations work more effectively with their communities. Our specialist expertise lies in developing strategies and projects that address barriers to newcomer participation and that leverage the benefits of cultural diversity. Our personal experiences living between cultures, and early career experiences helping refugees in their first six months of settlement played a formative role in shaping our focus.

  • LG Professionals WA

“LG Professionals WA, in conjunction with our Community Development Network, was very satisfied to have engaged Sarah to design a fit-for-purpose training program to complement our Evaluation Framework and Toolkit resource. Sarah as a practitioner herself really understood the valuable work delivered by community development professionals and during the training co-design process, connected with stakeholders at a deep level to ensure the training program content reflected the needs of the sector. Sarah was methodical and flexible in her approach, and her facilitation style was collaborative and always aimed to enhance the skills set of the participants by leveraging the collective wisdom in the group, in addition to her strong practical experiences in the field. We look forward to continue working with Sarah on future projects to deliver valuable support to local government professionals.”

During this period I have found Sarah to be a highly skilled practitioner with keen insight and an ability to work collaboratively and authentically to achieve results. Sarah works well within a co-design frame, being conscious to take everyone on the journey while seeking to achieve stretch outcomes. Sarah has an easy manner, embracing principles of inclusion while demonstrating courage to challenge the status quo. Sarah has been an asset to our work, helping to take it to the next level.
